I rarely get excited about the “it” color of the season, but this summer I went crazy for blush! I ran out, searched high and low for a blush shade that worked with my skin tone (which was not an easy task!) and purchased a few key pieces.
Now that fall is here, I still love my blush pieces but it feels like such a summer color. I wondered, how can I still use them? Well, I have some ideas to share with you to help incorporate blush into your home and wardrobe this fall! Plus, it’s breast cancer awareness month, so it’s the perfect month to mix some blush into your wardrobe to show your support!
For Your Wardrobe
Use Blush with Burgundy
Marsala is a burgundy tone and is one of this season’s Pantone colors for fall! And guess what?! It works beautifully with blush and creates a great fall palette. For a simple solution, just add a great burgundy bag or shoes.
Use Blush as an Accent
Give me some leather leggings and I am in! So chic! Keeping your top and pants black makes blush the statement piece without it feeling spring-like.
Blush Can Go Casual this fall
Add a big black bag and a black sweater or jacket to create a more layered look for fall. This will be how I work my beautiful, blush silk tank blouse I purchased this summer into my fall wardrobe. Plus, I love the skinny distressed medium wash jeans to keep it casual.
Accent Your Fall Look with Blush Jewelry
Two very hot trends in jewelry can help you add some blush to your wardrobe too! Quartz & rose gold accessories will work nicely with fall colors.
FOR YOUR HOME
You can also incorporate blush into your home! Whether it’s adding a throw pillow or painting the entire room blush, it will create a soft, feminine look. Plus, gold has been such a trend in interior design this last year and luckily, blush and gold are AMAZING together. Here are a few things you could add to your existing décor:
Purchase Accent Furniture
It is a BOLD choice to invest in furniture but if you LOVE blush, why not?! I am OBSESSED with this vintage style chair by Jonathan Adler. So CHIC!
Use an Accent Lamp
This is a great choice! I love changing out the lamps in my home, it is such a quick and fairly inexpensive way to change the look and add that wow factor. A gourd shape is classic and never goes out of style, but I must also include this AMAZING quartz lamp. It is definitely a splurge (not in budget for me, unfortunately) but wow, just wow- I will say it again…OBSESSED!
Use Blush Accessories
My curse as an interior designer is that as soon as I finally finish a room, I want to redo it again! So, I have neutral furniture and I add color with accessories. Accessories are more easily changed out and stored, so I can work them back into my home later. For small touches that won’t break the bank, but can add some blush style that makes a statement, think candles, bowls, vases and pillows.
Use Blush Flowers
Of course, fresh flowers are ALWAYS a good choice for your home—it can lift your spirit to have something fresh and alive in your immediate surroundings. If you don’t want to change any major elements of your home, consider adding some flowers for the week! Peonies are a classic choice, that never go out of style, or for a fall choice, use hyacinth, which are in season.
