For my second “Entertaining with Style” series, I am going to break down preparing and hosting your own Valentine’s Couples Dinner. You can also use my tips to plan a romantic dinner for two or host a dinner for several of your single girlfriends.
I will be celebrating my 3rd Valentine’s with my beau this year! The first year, he took me to Soto, a delicious Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. It was romantic and the food–divine! However, we learned a lesson that year, pre fixe menus and I do not go well together. I am a vegetarian, and on top of that, a picky eater. Plus, everyone knows restaurants mark up the menu and take advantage of this holiday dining experience. While my beau is more than willing to spend the money, the problem was I was given a four course meal, but could only eat two of the courses, and since it was pre fixe, I could not supplement with something I could eat. This means he had to eat six courses (his four and my two that I could not eat).
This year, we have decided to host a small, intimate Valentine’s dinner in order to avoid the pricey pre fixe menus and celebrate with other couples & friends. Our delectable home cooked meal will be made by none other than my beau, Anthony Gabriele, who has his own food blog, plateforkmouth. (I am such a lucky girl to be dating such an amazing cook!) I am sure that it will top any of those Los Angeles pre fixe menus.
If you read my “Entertaining with Style: Halloween for Grown-ups Article“, you know that I will be sharing how to decorate your table top, the recipes for the meal and some specialty cocktails, created by moi, that you will LOVE. (ok, ok- that is the only “love” pun I will do throughout the series).
Here is what you can look forward to in this series…
